With High performance selected, your CPU will stop unnecessarily throttling your games. Go to “Windows Control Panel -> Power Options,” then change the “Preferred plan” to “High performance.” This option may be hiding under “Show additional plans,” which you may have to click to see it. No matter which graphical settings you change, the game suffers a “dragging” effect on both video and sound that makes it extremely unpleasant to play.Īfter much poking around and futile settings tweaks, we found the solution in the simplest of places – Windows Power Options. These two issues often go hand in hand, and you may have experienced them in particular on some of the more demanding cores like the Vulkan-based PS1 core Beetle PSX HW. It will work with the Vulkan driver (using very accurate if low-resolution N64 graphics). Next, quit Retroarch and reopen it, go to “Settings -> Drivers -> Video” and change the driver to “vulkan.” Now, open a ROM using the ParaLLel 64 core. But as soon as you replace the assets with the correct source, it looks fine.Įasy way to tell if you've got the right filesįile system from the "bad" source includes these. Since they merge to the master branch damn near daily, and it appears something changed with the assets since then which causes the current PPSSPP core to render with this garbage text. However, the assets folder you should be using comes from the official v1.9 release of PPSSPP, which was back in September and includes the latest libretro core update. Which is all well and good, and the instructions in the documentation are not misleading or anything like that, but the PPSSPP team commits/PR's to this branch almost daily (as a dev myself, again, I support that). So it turns out that the assets folder I downloaded was coming from the master branch of the PPSSPP github. This is the literal first thing that shows up as soon as you boot the game for the first time. ![]()
